Hello! I'm David
My name is David Jadin, a Pediatric Dentist new to Elm Grove, WI with a new pediatric dental practice called PlayWell Pediatric Dentistry with a mission to empower kids and their families, and to build up young smiles.
PlayWell Pediatric Dentistry gets its name from the LEGO brick. LEGO made its name as a compound of the Danish "Leg Godt," meaning "Play Well." For us, it's an ethos. We want kids to Eat Well, Sleep Well, Brush Well, Grow Well, and to Play Well. "PlayWell" in our name also means you can expect LEGO décor and lots of it. Playing Well also includes playing together as a family. We love card games, board games, puzzles, etc. but LEGO is a play medium which can be enjoyed by kids of all ages (that includes grown-ups) and whether you're building, playing imaginatively, or re-building something new and uniquely creative, LEGO can be enjoyed together between people regardless of age differences and is a favorite of ours here at PlayWell.
The goal at PlayWell Pediatric is to create oral health, to prevent pain and infection, all the while empowering kids to be strong and independent and to empower parents with knowledge, tips and tricks to encourage good behaviors and habits. One example: a kid who goes off to college having never flossed will NOT start flossing on their own Freshman year.
We want make kids who are happy to come to the dentist for now and for always; to make smiles and to make kids smiling; to supervise and optimize growth and development while managing any hiccups that may come along the way. We want to encourage kids to play well and for families to play together; for those kids to ultimately be the best kids they can be and, later (a long LONG ways away, hopefully), to be the best adults they can be.
Along with encouraging LEGO and playing together, we also encourage family togetherness in a few other ways. We love reading and especially reading together and doing silly voices! My wife and I met at a library, we both worked at libraries, had a book-themed wedding and named our children after characters in our favorite books. At PlayWell Pediatric Dentistry, we gift a new book to children 8 years old and under at every 6 month cleaning that they can take home and use to expand their library and to get excited about every time they come and see me to get a new book!
We also are very proud of our charity partner - whom we support and donate to with every new patient - Sunbeam Kids, a nonprofit which organizes projects and provides resources to make it easier for kids and families to volunteer together; "Showing kids they can make a difference by lending a little hand". My 4 year old and I most recently picked vegetables for the HOPE center and picked up trash at the Lakeshore state park. Sunbeam Kids provides a great way to spend time with your kids and to share your values with them.
The below content is meant to serve as a resume/CV adjunct because let's face it - the resume is a very boring document. Below is more personal information about me that I wanted to provide in order to give you a better understanding of who I am.
Thank you!

EXPERIENCE
2015-2017, and 2019-2021
Pediatric Dentist
BROWN COUNTY ORAL HEALTH PARTNERSHIP
Provide preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care services for children from infancy to age 18 who are underinsured (Medical Assistance) or, and especially, uninsured. Advise clinical policy for the other dentists as the sole pediatric dental specialist on staff. Manage a high-paced patient caseload filled almost exclusively with patients referred from the practice's general dentists (i.e. only the toughies). Since joining in August, I reduced the OR list down from 200 to 40, despite limited OR access, mainly due to my ability to manage behavior and achieve successful and happy patient treatment outcomes in a clinic setting. We've since expanded the radius from which we accept referrals - important being 1 of 3 clinics in WI to primarily take children on MA to the hospital - and so we're back up to 200 kids and a 6 months wait period, unfortunately. But this is possible only because of our expanded ability to handle more and tougher situations especially in clinic, and expanded access for children especially children on MA is always a good thing. Credentialed at 4 surrounding hospitals to obtain limited block time for our MA & uninsured patients
2015-2017
General Dentist
MIDWEST DENTAL
Learned how general dentistry is managed in a private practice setting. Educated patients regarding preventive dental care, plaque control, causes and treatment of dental problems, and the oral healthcare services available. Diagnosed, treatment planned, and delivered comprehensive dentistry. Performed services such as denture fabrication, extractions, root canal therapy, pediatric care, etc. I also learned a great deal from my partner who had been practicing for almost 20 years, especially in the realm of business and dental practice management
2014-2015
Rural Oral Health Fellow
MARQUETTE ORAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP
Worked every half day with a different volunteer dentist - over 100 general dentists and specialists (Pediatric, Oral Surgery, Endodontic, and Periodontic) - to provide quality oral health care services to those in the three surrounding counties with limited health care access due to income or reduced Medicaid care. Guided and instructed assisting students, hygiene students and MUSoD dental students on daily basis. Developed special reputations for skill in oral surgery, in management of anxious adults and children, and ability to confer understanding to students
EDUCATION
2017-2019
Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry
UMN PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY RESIDENCY
A 24-month specialty certificate pediatric dentistry residency program with a focus on pediatric medicine, growth and development, advanced techniques in behavioral management, and clinical pediatric dentistry with an ultimate pursuit of board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. UMN provides extensive experience in moderate conscious sedation with medications such as meperidine and intranasal midazolam, phase 1 & 2 comprehensive orthodontic care. Program supplies ample OR experience and pulls widely for referrals to provide diverse patient loads with loads of diverse patient needs. Teaches biostatistical literacy as well as research design and biostatistical support for resident research projects. Provides experience in anesthesia practicing airway management, working on a cleft & craniofacial team, working within 3 different hospitals - one devoted to chronic disabilities and SHCN
2010-2014
Doctor of Dental Surgery
MU SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY
A 48-month doctorate of dental surgery program with a focus on teaching comprehensive patient care, dental anatomy, research methodology and small group research & presentation. Students collaborate with all specialty disciplines in the treatment of their assigned patients and perform all of their own lab work. I passed NBDE I & II (exam score is no longer quantified) and I averaged a 98% on the four CRDTS examination parts
2007-2011
BS in Biology
MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY
The Pre-Dental Scholars program allows 1 less year of undergraduate time/tuition by taking all of the necessary courses to earn the BS in Biology degree (and to prepare to take the DAT) and fitting them into a thoroughly packed 3 years. Then, the first year of dental school acts in duality as being the courses to begin earning the DDS degree, and additionally as general electives necessary to complete the Marquette standard requirement for total number of course credits needed to qualify for undergraduate graduation (which therefore occurs only after the completion of the first year of dental school).

EXPERTISE
SPECIAL DENTAL INTERESTS
Within the realm of pediatric dentistry, dabbling a little bit in everything keeps it exciting! Disciplines in which I have an extra special interest are as follows:
Sedation - the stimulation of the higher degree of medical complexity, practicing the prevention and (hopefully infrequently) treatment methods for managing medical emergencies big and small, and ultimately enabling children to do their best and have the best experience
Oral Surgery - with local anesthesia and the behavior management of anxious and stubborn children, no other discipline as much involves managing stress and mitigating medical complications. The actual surgeries, then, require perceptual ability (knowing where you are and how you're doing by feel) and result in the satisfaction of so completely eliminating odontogenic pain. And what's better than the surprise of an anxious patient: "it's over already?"

Orthodontics - treatment planning, forward thinking, critical chairside problem solving, and the opportunity for creativity and ingenuity in the use of metal and rubber to handcraft a smile - a therapy not always aimed strictly at treating pathology, but one that can have just as big an impact on health and happiness
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Empathy is one of my core skills. While courtesy and tact are matters of social form, they come from a spirit of good-will and kindness. I listen well and communicate with care. I question for clarity and understanding, and my mind is bent on problem-solving and efficiency.
I make excellent relationships with peers, teachers, students, and staff, and I am highly responsible and accountable. I engage all things with an optimism that dissipates all discouragement.
I am fortunate to have received consistently positive feedback especially on my behavioral management of anxious children and adults alike, as well as my clear communication and patient education.
Conceptual understanding and ability to confer said understanding unto others has ever been a passion of mine and I may one day consider giving back in some way as an educator at a dental institution
APTITUDE FOR APTITUDE
I find new realms of knowledge to be unbearably attractive and exciting. I love learning new things and often find myself diving deep in the rabbit hole of worlds I was previously completely ignorant of
I am readily adaptable, dexterous of hand and mind, and I find I often have sufficient and rapid aptitude for the things I try. In the last year, I delved into the design of a wedding logo and the fabrication of a brass branding iron, thoroughly researched horology and bought my first mechanical watch (Marathon JDD) and hope soon to learn and practice the disassembly and reassembly of mechanical watches, I learned to skate, and thankfully to stop, as I joined a beginner's hockey league (as they say, "when in Minnesota…")… not to mention learning pediatric dentistry and fatherhood.

That said, there are several areas of work and pleasure where I am consistently enjoying and improving with experience. I consider myself an advanced amateur in computers. I know little to no coding or programming, but I have an extensive foundational understanding of computers if only from the thousands of problems I've run into and figured out for myself as well as for family/friends. I wrote my research project on dental practice website design sophistication to maximize patient acquisition. In creating and maintaining my own website, I have engaged in SEO & Google Analytics. I learned how to create my own vector art logo and crafted my own cell phone number and e-mail address. Another area of lifelong intrigue and learning is in the so called fiber arts, i.e. crocheting and knitting. There are right-handed and left-handed variants of knitting, so I learned them both and can knit fair isle (a kind of color-work) using 2 yarns simultaneously, one in each hand. I've learned various methods to create and invent simple to truly magnificent blankets and scarves, stuffed animals, sweaters, and dresses for my little girl
